Project Description
This project has been developed through an intergovernmental
agreement between five communities along historic US Route
66. It involves the construction of a hiking and biking trail
along the road’s right-of-way. Engineering for the project has
been funded by state highway enhancement grant funds. A
cost sharing grants assist with funding approximately 80% of the projects.
FY 20-21 funding is for construction costs associated with the section of trail from south of Shirley (1.1 mi) to Funks Grove. Construction and Engineering is managed by McLean County.
FY 22-26 funding for contruction costs and engineering costs for future trail sections. All projects dependent on IL Transportation Enhancement Program grants which have been or will be submitted by the McLean County Highway Department.
