Project Description
The two pool filters at Fairview Family Aquatic Center are original to the facility in 1996. They are Atlas filters, and replacement parts are only available in South Africa with a 4-6 week lead time. The Atlas company is no longer in existence, so there is a major concern about the longevity of parts being available. We sandblasted the units and repainted them, in addition to being outfitted with new o-rings, septums, gaskets and sock sleeves during winter 2016-17.
We recommend replacement of the 2 existing filters and 2 pumps with 1 more efficient filter, 1 new pump, 1 variable frequency drive (for the pump), a Halo automated controller, air compressor/air actuated valves, and all wiring and plumbing.
The new filter uses a stainless steel tank, so corrosion would not be an issue anymore. We currently have this filter at Anderson and it has been great.
Anticipated Future Operating Impact
Potential decrease in annual chemical costs at Fairview Aquatic Center.
